Holocaust
Remembrance

Commemorate Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day) with a Zikaron BaSalon event on April 23rd, 2025, at 7:00 PM (Anita Gurwitz, hosting)

Zikaron BaSalon – which literally means “Remembrance in the Living Room” – is a grassroots initiative that began in Israel in 2011. It was created in response to the fading firsthand memories of the Holocaust, with the mission of ensuring that these stories are never forgotten. Since its founding, over 1.5 million people across more than 60 countries have participated in this powerful tradition.

As we emerge from the celebration of Pesach, I’m reminded of one of its central mitzvot:
“Vehigadeta Levincha” – “And you shall tell your child.”

this powerful commandment of sharing our memory takes on even greater significance, especially considering that Holocaust Remembrance Day takes place just three days after Pesach ends.

Our story doesn’t end with the Exodus; we are also obligated to pass down the memory of the Holocaust to future generations.

To make it easy to share this opportunity, I’ve attached a graphic from the Federation and a registration link below. Please feel free to pass this along to your community or network — just be sure to adapt the message as needed.
